The 2021 Cannonball is a wrap. The last day was 99 miles from McAllen, Texas to South Padre Island, Texas for the grand finale. Justin, Jared and AA rode across the finish line under their own power. Jared and AA completing with a perfect score. Justin missed two days due to a magneto problem. Steve only completed 45 of the final 99 with a magneto problem as well. Looks like we need to learn to repair our own magnetos. Steve started off the morning having to replace his

    Cottonball Interstate

Today the Tribe spent practically the entire ride today on the interstate so the death grips were real on these old bikes which do 45 mph comfortably. So, when the vehicles passed them at 75-85, the draft was wicked. The comments weren’t pretty at all about it. At first I thought that the road was pretty trashy until I passed the truck hauling these cotton rolls. Too cool! I learned how they haul cotton. Scenery wasn’t much to look at so it was pretty desolate. The Texas T

    Flat Tire Kind of Day

Today’s run from Nacogdoches to Victoria, Texas provided some entertainment in the form of flat tire frenzy. Jared developed a flat tire and as luck would have it they found a shade tree at the end of a driveway to park and change it. The owner at the house came out to check on them and see if they needed anything. Then there was a guy who stopped in a pickup who had a motorcycle shop about 10 miles down the road AND he had a service truck about 3/4 of a mile which he brou

    Yard Sale

Today’s ride from Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Nacogdoches, Texas was full of sun! The riders were happy to ride into the oldest town in Texas and were greeted warmly. The Tribe made all their miles. However, they lost a member due to injury today. Joe pulled his calf muscle yesterday and this morning it was no better and he was unable to ride and work his rear brake with that leg, so he pulled out. He had a perfect score up to this point. We’re going to miss him. Safe travel

    Trailer Cannonball

Today’s ride from Murfreesboro, TN toTrussville, AL for all the riders was what was know as Trailer Cannonball. Looking at the weather and consulting with Tennessee and Alabama officials it was decided it would be advisable to trailer with the amount of rain predicted. Jason didn’t want to end up like Saturday with roads flooded and closed, so he called it. Once loaded, Steve sprayed all the mags down with silicone spray for the trip. Coming into Alabama…… Once they arrived

    Multi-Purpose Hair Dryer

Here’s hoping that this rainbow will bring a dryer day tomorrow! Briefly about 6:30 this evening, this double rainbow was out before the rain started yet again. Buckets and buckets of rain came down during the day off. But that didn‘t stop the work in the pits today. It only made it more miserable. The Tribe was up and at it before 9 am and was just finishing up when the rainbows came out. One by one the bikes were gone over under a dripping canopy, with endless water runn

    Last Man Standing

Today’s ride was literally a washout. It started out just overcast, but when the clouds let loose, it came down in buckets. Part of the riders were ahead of the worst of it but the Tribe was not. Roads were flooding, emergency instructions were sent out to support crews and riders and the race was on to account for everyone. Our guys made it to mile 165 when they were stopped by the fire department and the state police with a road closed due to flash flooding. Jason call

    Pinball Anyone??

The stories that were told of the ride today were and forever will be never ending. It started in Myrtle Beach and ended in the Great Smoky Mountains at the Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC for a hosted dinner. Thanks go out to Matt and all who helped put it on. The day took them through fog, rain, mist and wet roads most of the day. But it was at the Pinnacle Tunnel that the pinball game began. All entered the tunnel expecting some type of lighting (theres

    The Wicked Wrench

Looking from above as The Tribe left this morning. Thanks to Bruce Redpath for this awesome shot. ❤️ This speaks for itself! Full bellies today! They are trying to get AA to give up her rice (and I don’t see that happening). Arriving in at The Wicked Wrench tonight for full miles. Yes! Funny story- when I checked in today at the motel, I asked the girls at the front desk where The Wicked Wrench was. They both got to laughing and gave me directions. When I asked what was

    Myrtle Beach at the Crown

The guys traveled from Danville, VA to Myrtle Beach, SC and made all their miles. It was a hot and humid day around 93 when they pulled into the Myrtle Beach Harley Davidson. Bikes ran well and they just had routine maintenance to complete. Arriving at the Myrtle Beach Harley Davidson for hosted dinner Thanks! We had prime spots in the parking garage for our nightly repairs. Joe got his rear tire to swap out My sister, Jen and Scott came down to see us. We gave them the

    Oh Those West Virginia Hills

The Tribe was ready to ride the hills and the support crews hit the road early knowing it would be a long drive today. Little did we know that about 3 miles past the first toll booth on I64, we would spend almost 3 hours at a dead stop waiting for a wreck to be cleared. With that, most of us arrived after the bikes did into Danville. What a day! The crew had time to stop at a DQ for ice cream again today so all is right with the world. Joe’s back tire is still an issue so h

    Gonna Be A Great Day

When the sunrise is gorgeous and you’re gonna ride your motorcycle all day for some wind therapy…. you know it will be GREAT! Unless you’re Jared and you take the cover off your bike and discover that your footboard is about to fall off and you’ve only got 3 lbs of air in your front tire. So you get your dad and brother to take care of the tire and you work on wiring fast the footboard so you can leave on time. A plan is made should the tire go down—-tube, tire spoons, pump

    Only Day 4

Yep! Only day four and I’ve already heard guys at breakfast asking their buddies what their own room number was. 🤦‍♀️ So, by the time we reach South Padre, it will be chaos. The guys had a hosted lunch stop at the Napoleon HD followed by an amazing prime rib dinner hosted by fellow Cannonball rider Jason Wadinski at his Rip Rap Roadhouse. The place is super cool with his motorcycle themed decor. Thanks Jason!!! Apparently Scott Byrd had nothing else to do while riding

    The Battle Today

Buck’s Indian made all 253 miles today on their ride from Traverse City to Battle Creek for perfect scores. Hurray! Here they are rolling into the Battle Creek HD for their hosted stop. Shout out to them for an amazing meal!!!! Steve had to stop for about an hour today after one of his header pipes split. Once it cooled down, he took hose clamps and got it stuck back together! And he made it in on time even though Terry Richardson clocked him and then squealed to the boys

    And so it begins….

Stage 1 began on a cool morning after the foggy mist lifted at the Museum Valley Ship in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan with Canada spied in the distance across the water. Jitters and nerves were settled by the time the crew made it into Traverse City 184 miles later at Hagerty Insurance for a hosted dinner. It ended with only 9 on the sweep trucks, some fatal, while others worked into the early hours of the morning and then some, to be ready for Stage 2. There were those (the

    Rain, Rain Go Away….

Motorcycle Cannonball wants to play! The rain came down in buckets on the ride to the UP today several different times. It curbed most of the parking lot builds this evening. Yes, I said builds! There are still bikes being finished in the parking lot and the clock is ticking faster and faster. It’s supposed to clear off by mid day and the weather looks great for the start. Buck’s Indian riders are all registered and ready for tech inspection in the morning. With the co

Ready to Head to the Soo

The guys have taken their final test rides, made adjustments, added fire extinguishers and extra fuel canisters to the bikes, packed, repacked and are ready to go. The support van, however, has provided a whole host of challenges the last couple days. We thought it was ready to go and on the way to Findlay it started making a noise. So, after a replacing the ac compressor, the belt, ALL the pulleys (one at a time, of course) and the starter, we think (fingers crossed) tha
