1928 Indian 101 Scout Hillclimber
45 cu. in. / 750 cc
Found in Maryland
This bike belonged to Edward A Cosgrove, owner of Cosgrove Cycle and Tire of Cumberland, MD. Cosgrove was an Indian dealer. Bike was built around 1929 and was raced in AMA events. Edward A won the Class B Championship on this motorcycle on 1932. His son and 2 daughters who worked for him, kept the Indian franchise until they later went to Honda. Edward R Cosgrove (son) won the Class B Championship in Freemansburg, PA in 1951. This bike was always raced in green and white color, and in 1972 was completely disassembled and reconstructed with NOS parts by Edward R, and then was used as a window display for their Honda dealership. We were contacted by Denton Cosgrove (son of Edward R) for the acquisition of the bike and all of its memorabilia (which includes a jersey, leather pants, leather riding jacket, pit shirt, boots, helmet, goggles, magazine articles, family racing photos, and all of the extra parts and tools used in the pits at events). |
